Summary

ScanHisaab does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. Every receipt you scan, every total you track, and every preference you set is stored entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded to us or to anyone else.

What the app does on your device

• Camera - The app uses your camera so you can photograph paper receipts. The captured image is processed locally and is not sent anywhere.
• On-device OCR - Receipt images are read using Google ML Kit's on-device text recognition. The image and the recognized text never leave your phone.
• Local storage - Parsed receipt data (merchant, amount, date, items), budgets, and your preferences are stored on your device using Android's standard app storage (AsyncStorage). They remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app.
• Notifications - The app can send you local reminders (e.g. budget alerts). These notifications are generated on your device. We do not use push notifications, so no notification content passes through our servers.

What we do NOT collect

• No analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting
• No account, no login, no email address
• No advertising identifiers
• No location data
• No contact list, no calendar, no SMS access
• No cloud sync, no backup to our servers

Permissions explained

• CAMERA - to scan receipts. Required.
• POST_NOTIFICATIONS - to show local budget/reminder alerts. Optional - you can deny it.
• READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE - declared by Android dependencies for compatibility with older Android versions. Not used to access your gallery or files outside the app's own storage.
• INTERNET - declared because Android dependencies require it, but the app does not transmit any of your data over the network.
• VIBRATE - haptic feedback for notifications and UI.

Children

ScanHisaab is a personal finance tool intended for adults managing their own expenses. We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.

Data retention & deletion

Because data lives only on your device, you control retention. To delete everything: open the app, go to Settings, and tap Clear all data - or uninstall the app from Android Settings, which removes all stored receipts and preferences.

Third parties

The app uses these third-party software libraries (all running on-device, none of them receive your data over a network):

• Google ML Kit Text Recognition (on-device OCR)
• React Native, Expo (app framework)
• react-native-document-scanner-plugin (image capture)

Changes to this policy

If the app changes in a way that affects this policy (for example, if cloud sync is ever added in the future), the policy will be updated and the effective date above will reflect the change. Material changes will be announced in the app release notes on Google Play.
