The short version

Your saved links and notes stay on your device.
No account, no sign-in, no tracking, no ads.
linkGrab has no servers — we never receive your data.
The app only goes online to fetch a link's title and preview image, directly from the website you saved.

Introduction

linkGrab (“the app”, “we”) is a personal link-capture tool that lets you grab and organize links from a floating bubble. This policy explains what data the app handles and how. By using linkGrab you agree to this policy.

We designed linkGrab to be local-first and privacy-respecting: it works entirely on your device and does not require an account.

Information We Collect

linkGrab does not collect, transmit, or sell personal information. We do not have user accounts, and we do not operate any server that receives your data.

The content you create — saved links, page titles, preview images, descriptions, notes, and categories — is stored only in the app's local database on your device. It is not uploaded anywhere.

How the App Uses the Internet

When you save a link, linkGrab fetches a readable title and a preview image so your list looks tidy. To do that, it makes a network request directly to the website of the link you saved, or to that provider's public preview (oEmbed) endpoint — for example YouTube, Vimeo, Reddit, TikTok, or Instagram's public embed page.

These requests go to those third-party websites, not to us. The request contains the URL you are saving and a generic browser user-agent; it does not include your name, account, or any identifier. We receive none of this data because we run no servers.

Permissions & Why They're Used

Accessibility Service. linkGrab can use Android's Accessibility Service only to read the link or video information on your current screen when you ask it to capture (for example, a video playing in a browser). This reading happens entirely on your device, is used solely to grab the link, and is never logged, stored beyond the captured link, or transmitted. You can enable or disable it at any time in system settings.

Display over other appsShows the floating capture bubble above other apps.

Notification accessReads the “now playing” media title/URL on-device to capture the video you're watching.

ClipboardReads a link you just copied so it can be saved. Used on-device only.

Foreground service & notificationsKeeps the bubble available and shows its persistent notification.

InternetFetches link titles and preview images, as described above.

Data Storage & Security

All your data lives in a local database on your device and is protected by Android's app sandbox. You stay in control:

Delete any saved link from within the app at any time.
Clear all data via your system Settings → Apps → linkGrab → Storage.
Uninstalling the app permanently removes all data it stored.

Backups & Sharing

linkGrab can export your saved links to a local backup file (JSON). This file is created on your device. It is only shared if you explicitly choose to share or move it (e.g. to another app or device). We never automatically upload or share your backups, and we do not sell or share your data with any third party for advertising or analytics.

Third-Party Services

When you save a link, the app contacts the relevant website to fetch its preview — this may include services such as Google/YouTube, Vimeo, Reddit, TikTok, or Meta/Instagram, depending on the link. Those services have their own privacy policies and may log standard request information (like an IP address) as any website does when visited. You only contact them when you choose to save a link from them. linkGrab itself bundles no advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.

Children's Privacy

linkGrab is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Since no personal data is collected by us at all, there is nothing for us to gather from children or any other user.

Your Choices

Revoke any permission at any time in Android system settings.
Disable the Accessibility Service or notification access whenever you like — the app keeps working for links you grab manually.
Delete individual links, clear all data, or uninstall to remove everything.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
